Parham house lidded vases

Just before lockdown I completed this pair of lidded vases using fencai enamel painting - they have recently arrived from my studio in China. They are the start of a new direction that explores botanical illustration and its styalisation . Three different images wrap themselves around the body of the vase moving between the fantastical and the real! Fencai enamel is water based and creates a jewel like palette of colour, with the technique I use making it tactile to the touch after firing. The works are part of a collection launched by Adrian Sassoon in collaboration with Parham house in West Sussex and photographed by Sylvain Deleu.
